The Partnership for Innovation M²Aind is looking back with Bruker Daltonik GmbH on a successful international conference in the field of mass spectrometry

In cooperation with Bruker Daltonik GmbH, the Partnership in Innovation M²Aind held the "MALDI Innovations in Pharma 2018" conference at the end of February 2018 at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences.  Over the course of two days, around 120 representatives from the pharmaceutical, chemical and biotechnology sectors from both industry and academia used the opportunity to network and exchange information on the latest research findings. On the one hand, the event focused on label-free high-throughput screening methods using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI) mass spectrometry and applications of MALDI-MS imaging in the pharmaceutical industry and chemical biology. Of particular interest to the audience were the different research applications that were presented by the 16 speakers from five countries.

Prof. Dr. Carsten Hopf, initiator of the event and head of the CeMOS - Center for Biomedical Mass Spectrometry and Optical Spectroscopy Competence Center, invited attendees to a tour of the Bruker Rhein-Neckar Center for MS Fingerprinting and Imaging, which is funded by the BMBF and DFG. Pleased, Prof. Hopf comments on a successful conference with international lectures: "There has never before been an international conference for MALDI mass spectrometry that is fully tailored to the fields of interest of the pharmaceutical industry - screening assays on the one hand and imaging for DMPK and toxicology on the other. The great response documents the need for these technologies, and I am glad that Bruker organised such an event with M2Aind".

Prof. Dr. Mathias Hafner, the Vice-Chancellor for Research and Technology Transfer at the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, considers the event a complete success for the M²Aind Partnership in Innovation: "The great interest of the industry in this event confirms that we have set the right priorities in research; we are internationally competitive at the highest level".

The detailed programme of the conference can be found on the M²Aind website.
